Riverton Cemetery Headstone information
The headstone information presented here uses the names and dates as shown on the stone.
Spelling of surnames is as spelled on the stone.
An original catalog of names and dates was done in 2003 (we believe by John McKay). The catalog presented here builds on that original (with updates, corrections and references to plot number added).
The original plots were 16 feet X 16 feet in size (large enough for 8 graves) and some were 8 feet X 16 feet (large enough for 4 graves). As a result many plots have more than 1 stone and more than one family surname interred within them.
There are also more than 1 surname on some stones, consequently each stone has been assigned an arbitrary number to allow the grouping of all names shown on the same stone.
There are 3 databases to reference, ALL CONTAIN THE SAME INFORMATION, just sorted differently.
- Headstone Information, sorted by Surname
- Headstone Information, sorted by Stone Number
- Headstone Information, sorted by Plot Number
SUGGESTION: Find the person of interest in the Surname database then using the stone number and/or the plot number, check the Stone Number database and possibly the Plot Number database to see who may be interred in the same plot area. You can also check the plot number on the Plot Map to find the plot location of the stone in the cemetery.
- Headstone Photos (you will need the Plot Number and maybe the Stone Number from the above databases)
